The Role
Holistick Medical is seeking a
Research and Development (R&D) Engineer
(Entry level, female/male)
The R&D Engineer will be conducting R&D activities for the project. This opportunity is based in Allston, MA at the Harvard Life Lab incubator space.
Key responsibilities will include:
Defining, developing and conducting various laboratory tests (mechanical and chemical)
Performing chemical synthesis for new adhesive formulations
Developing fixtures and tools
Preparing and conditioning test samples
Working with tissue specimens and benchtop models
Analyzing raw data, reporting data, hypothesizing outcomes, and proposing new experiments
Building and testing functional prototypes
Developing manufacturing methods
Candidate Profile:
The role requires a blend of technical, personal and administrative skills
The successful candidate must thrive in a fast-paced start-up environment with quick communication, rapid iterative design and prototyping work, and strong organizational skills. The ability to juggle multiple tasks is a must
The candidate must be authorized to form a business entity in the US, such as a limited liability corporation (LLC), to work in the role (more information provided in an interview)
Desired Skills
Familiarity with standard CAD software
Experience with mechanical and chemical tests
Previous work in a laboratory environment
Experience with biomaterials
High level of autonomy as well as team player
Good communication skills
Hands-on attitude, out of the box thinking, cooperative attitude, action-driven
Strong sense of urgency and problem-solving skills, stress-resistance
Fluent command of English
Desired Qualifications
Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science
Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Materials Science
Experience in a chemistry or materials science lab, or similar
